Painting

Prep, ceilings, walls, trims, staining, outside.

The most DIY-able finishing stage — if you have the patience for masking tape and the honesty to do three coats when you wanted to do one. Eighty percent of a good paint job happens before the paint goes on the wall. Wash, fill, sand, prime where the wall asks, then cut in and keep a wet edge. Ceilings first. Exterior paint has a weather window. Do not pick a hero colour under a fluorescent aisle light.
